Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins is the final installment of Katniss Everdeens story. I originally started reading this series when I was in middle school. When I got to this book I stopped right in the middle because the ending was spoiled for me. I did watch all the movies but I am always interested in the things that happen in the book that are not presented on screen.
I think the ending was alright. I did like seeing all the steps to how the games ended and how the country is now ruled. I’m a little disappointed that we did not getting to know about what the other characters are up to now that they are free. The movie was great because it gave some insight on how other characters were doing after the final battle with Snow.
Gail was so irritating during the whole series. He was so consumed with hatred of the Capitol. I understand that in District 12 it was really hard to survive and that he had to support his family since he was basically a child. I understand him hating the Capitol. It was just horrible to know that he was willing to harm people without guilt or a second thought. He did not care if the people were only doing what they could to survive he just saw that they were working with the enemy. I think he was so in tune with President Coin.
President Coin is just like President Snow. She wanted more games but on Capitol children. The whole point of the war was to stop the games and create a country without any war where people can support each other. She was willing for Katniss to die because she felt like she was a threat because so many people were inspired by her.
I think Katniss and Peeta are endgame. They understood each other so well. They are always fighting for each other since the first games they were in. Katniss really developed feelings for him because he understood her more than anyone else. Gail knew the girl before the games and Peeta knew the girl afterwards.
I rated this book 3/5 stars. I did enjoy the book but at times I felt it was really boring and repetitive. I do understand why it was repetitive but I think a little more thought could’ve gone into it.
