Throttled is the first book in the Dirty Air series. It is about Maya Alatorre and Noah Slade. This is a formula 1 romance. Maya’s brother, Santiago, is rivals with Noah. What started out as just an attraction turns into a secret relationship.
Maya has just graduated from college but has no idea what direction she wants to take her career. She decides that she will tag along to her brother, Santiagos racing tour and start a YouTube channel. During the tour she meets Noah Slade and has a kind of infatuation with him.
Noah is Formula 1 royalty. His father was a racer and he is the next generation. He comes from a hard family and is just trying to distract himself. After meeting Maya he starts to be obsessed with her. He doesn’t know if he can be in a relationship with her because of how he was raised. Eventually he starts to work on himself, to get an understanding of himself and face his trauma.
This was the second Lauren Asher book that I have read. I did rate this book 3/5 stars. I thought the characters had interesting backgrounds and the relationships that grew were natural. I never read a book about Formula before and honestly it wasn’t that interesting to me. I found myself skimming over the parts where the races were described. The YouTube videos and interviews were fun to read about. There was some spice but not too much for the people who aren’t into heavy spice.
Overall I did enjoy the book and plan to continue on with the series in the future.
